Correct training through relaxation and structural alignment allows the the body to develop intrinsic strength or whole body power. Whole body power is a specialized type of refined strength known as Jing. The expression of this force or Fa Jing is created by an energetic pulse through a relaxed but correctly aligned structure. Consider a Bow and arrow. The deformation of the Bow and the flexing and return to its original shape generates tremendous force allowing an arrow to be propelled at great speed towards its target. So it is with the human body where Five “bows” are recognized and each can be used to generate its own specific quality of Jing. Long Jing uses the whole body and a long wavelength to toss or bounce an opponent way. Short Jing uses a more direct path and when released suddenly generates a sharp shock wave which can generate tremendous force. Inch Jing, and cold jing are two examples of short Jing power
